Accomplishments

Just getting started

2023-2024 was a year of remarkable student success achievements at IU. This year, in partnership with our campus colleagues, our team focused on making critical investments in student success technology and data, increasing success coaching capacity and training, and improving student wellness and financial education.

We've made a lot of progress, and there are so many more exciting advancements to be made as we continue to create a culture of holistic support for all IU students. Learn more about our ambitious goals for 2024-2025 to further advance IU's commitment to student success.

Explore OVPSS priorities

Two pairs of students chat in a lounge. Various nations' flags are hung on a bulletin board, and a large potted plant livens the space.

Supporting data-informed decision making

OVPSS is making it easier for stakeholders across IU to use data in their decision making. We're conducting new assessments, analyzing existing data, and providing flexible dashboards with real-time information.

Helping students meet basic needs

In Fall 2023, students from all IU campuses participated in a financial wellness survey administered by Trellis, identifying opportunities to improve the student experience around basic needs and finances. OVPSS held a Student Financial Wellness Summit, visited all campuses, and identified priorities to address financial wellness needs.

Improving confidence in mental health services

IU saw significant improvements in student perceptions of mental health services available to them based on a Spring 2024 survey administered by OVPSS. Student satisfaction rates rose by 14.4% for quality, 15.1% for accessibility, and 13% for communication of resources compared to Fall 2022.

Making data accessible & usable

In partnership with Institutional Analytics, OVPSS developed a series of student success dashboards to help IU decisionmakers identify and address areas of student needs across IU. This allows campus leaders to strategically focus their efforts on moving the needle for student success.

Individualized support at scale through technology

Innovative use of technology will allow IU staff & faculty to provide personalized support to students at a larger scale than ever before, while maintaining the human connections that make that support meaningful.

A comprehensive support platform

OVPSS initiated the implementation of Stellic, a comprehensive student success technology that will make it easier and faster for IU's nearly 90,000 students across all campuses to plan their classes, track their progress toward degree completion and stay on track for on-time graduation. Full implementation is expected in 2025.

24/7 mental health support

OVPSS fully implemented Timely Care in Summer 2023 to provide free, 24/7 virtual mental health services to students. Timely Care offers ongoing therapy as well as a helpline for students who need to connect with a provider immediately.

Integrated case management

OVPSS implemented Maxient software at an enterprise level (student, faculty and staff across all IU campuses) to provide coordinated care case management with student conduct reports and records, Title IX reports/records for students, faculty, and staff, and CARE team information.
