Access & Opportunity

Creating equitable supports

The Access and Opportunity area within OVPSS is responsible for cultivating holistic student supports that address access, resources, and opportunities required to create equitable outcomes for all students. This area partners with campuses and communities of practice to address student equity in access, policy, and process.

Areas of focus

Addressing basic needs

Partnering with campus and community resources to ensure students have access to basic needs and emergency assistance, enabling them to focus on their academic and personal growth.

Empowering financial wellness

Providing transparent cost information, workshops on budgeting and debt management, and resources to foster healthy financial habits and informed decision-making for students and their families.

Enhancing student access

Expanding opportunities through outreach, bridge programs, and technology access, while advocating for policies that remove barriers for underrepresented and low-income students.

Supporting priority populations

Advancing equitable access and success for first-generation and low/limited income students through information-building, mentorship, and targeted success initiatives.
